This is something we do rather well. We make the splendid suite of State Rooms available for weddings up to twelve times each year, between April and October. You could think that they were designed for this purpose, spacious, closely connected, with kitchens and other facilities adjacent. We provide tables, chairs, and staff on hand to help you all the way.
Civil Ceremonies are conducted in the Saloon, on the first floor. This is reached by the Grand Staircase and has a fine painted ceiling. There is also a lift.
Receptions are held in the Great Hall, with dining in the Ballroom adjacent. There is also a private room set aside for the bridal party and a Games Room where children can be separately entertained.
Reception only: £4200
Civil Ceremony & Reception: £4900
Civil Ceremony followed by drinks and canapes: £2200 (max 4 hrs)
We are not VAT registered and there is no corkage charge. Ten percent of the fee is due on booking, and the remainder eight weeks before the event. If you require further information or if you would like to come and see the venue, please telephone Rowan, our wedding coordinator on 01332 862599, or complete the online form below.
‘Muy casa, su casa’ - my house is your house. The setting may be splendid, the State Rooms very grand, but we want you to feel relaxed and ‘at home’ on your wedding day.
To help you to know what we can or cannot offer here at Staunton Harold we have compiled some questions and answers which may help you in deciding where your wedding will take place.
Rowan Smith, our events organiser, can help you with any other queries you may have, either by email or telephone on 01332 862599.
This is a family home, and we only have about twelve weddings each year. This means that each wedding is very important to us, and we are often able to tailor the day to suit your wishes.
How many guests can we have?
We are limited to a hundred if you are having a civil ceremony, and a hundred is also our limit for the wedding breakfast. Extra guests, up to fifty may join the party in the evening.
Do we allow marquees?
No. Our State Rooms are so fine that no marquee could match them.
Who will do the food?
We have selected four caterers, all of whom we know to be good, and who have worked here many times. Two of them are small family businesses and not VAT registered, which helps with prices. The caterers can also supply a bar, or we have an independent supplier. There is a charge to your caterer of £250.00 for events which make use of our fully equipped catering kitchen. We can also recommend Florists and Photographers.
How about music?
We have found a good Disco gets people on the floor and really enjoying themselves. A band can also be recommended, plus smaller ensembles for arriving guests and for civil ceremonies. If you know a competent pianist the grand piano in the Great Hall is at your service.
What happens outside the house?
Signposts on the day direct guests to our Melbourne Lodge entrance, usually closed to visitors. The bridal party arrives at the front door, and parking is in the Lion Court car park, immediately behind the hall. Guests often spill out onto the lawns leading down to the lake.
In the evening some weddings conclude with a firework display, laid on to reflect into the lake. Cars can be left overnight, and we can supply numbers to pre-order taxis.
Facilities inside the Hall?
We have friendly, well trained, staff on hand at all times to look after you and your guests. Beside the usual rooms associated with a wedding reception we have a room set aside for the use by the bride and attendants. Also another room conveniently close to the main hall where children can be entertained under supervision by the wedding party.
Time contraints?
We are happy for florists etc. to telephone and see the venue in advance. Setting up for a Saturday wedding is on Friday, and we like things cleared up by Sunday lunchtime. The bar closes at 11:30 pm and Cinderella hour for the bridal party is midnight.
Staunton Harold Hall is a splendid stately home and we can put you in touch with professionals who can handle every aspect of the wedding. But if you have friends or relations who can do the flowers, make the cake, take the photographs, play the piano in the Great Hall, - do please involve them; it helps to make the day more personal. For our part we will do all we can to make your day one that you will always treasure.
John & Jacqueline Blunt.
